The Storm Water Group consisting of Wendy Diotalevi, Board of Health Director, Stephen Fogg, Town Engineer,
Michele Grzenda, Conservation Agent, Susan Haber, Town Planner, Robert Morra, Building Inspector, will be holding a public hearing in March to review the proposed Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination Bylaw to be brought to Town meeting in May. The EPA is requiring that by June Towns in the Charles River Watershed test for certain pollutants in its drainage system. Weston has a limited drainage system so this bylaw has different effects on different parts of town. Private roads systems are not monitored by the town but if illicit discharge is found in the town system near a private road system than the proposed bylaw will allow the town to demand the private road to test and remediate any violation to the bylaw. The purpose of the Illicit Discharge By-law is to regulate illicit connections and discharges to the municipal storm drain system for the protection of the Town’s water bodies and groundwater, and to safeguard the public health, safety, welfare and the environment.
